This series is a record of inquiries into the perhaps unprovable claim that geographic places have a life—or cluster of psychic and energetic forces—that can be measured or depicted in visual form. Even in two-dimensional depictions of places with little outward visual similarity there was often found to be a kind of mesmerizing presence that many viewers concurred was palpable.
It appears that there is a “place” or intersection in the perceptual/cognitive process—almost like a “place” (or type of brain-wave?) between waking and sleep—where the metaphysical intersects the physical. This intersection, through human awareness and interaction, becomes a kind of portal through which energy can be conveyed through visual means. Opening this portal and conveying this energetic information requires a receptive and reverential state of being, like falling in love.
